This year TRAILS finalists included artists from across Australia. The works reflected a range of media, techniques and experience, providing viewers with a broad spectrum from which to cast their People's Choice vote.
Crafted from recycled clay, my self-portrait sculpture embodies the struggles of a politicized body, reflecting the decay and devaluation of women over time. Its textural, tactile, and plump form is an expression of loneliness and isolation, unapologetically unbalanced yet joyful and silly in its portrayal of women's complexities.
